• An archetype is essentially a characteristic or trait
• Archetypes provide the foundation for our personality, our drives, feelings, beliefs, motivations and actions
• An archetype is seen not only literally but also symbolically e.g. playing the prostitute - we need not physically sell our bodies, we can "prostitute" on other levels i.e. sell to the "highest bidder" our belief in our self, our talents, our integrity etc
• During the study of archetypes we look at the various aspects that make you the individual that you are e.g. your ego and personality, how you interact in relationships, who you are unconsciously etc
• The insight that archetypes has brought to me is as follows: awareness precedes choice and choice precedes change!
