I was fortunate enough to have attended a phenomenal coaching workshop this weekend, which focused on who we are, as individuals, in the world. So, following that experience, I would like to share with you, the flow of thoughts that it unleashed, and I will call this newsletter "Footprints". How many times in your life, have you lifted your hands in resignation or shrugged your shoulders, deflecting the situation, saying "there is nothing that I can do about it"...? How many times in your life, have you said out aloud, or quietly to yourself, that you would like to make a difference in the world, leave a legacy and then quickly add "even if it is just within my family" What is the cost to you and everyone else, when you choose not to create a footprint, when you choose not to make a difference? What part of your body shrivels up and dies a little? Where do you feel the pain? I know that after this weekend, I choose to play big, and to most definitely leave a footprint, and I almost want to be specific and say that it must be bigger than a size 7 (size 41) and felt through the fabric of our society. Picture if you will, a footprint in soft sand versus a footprint in wet sand...I choose the latter. And yes there are and will be times that my instinct will be to side step an opportunity for me to leave my footprint because the reasoning will be that "I don't have the experience; it's beyond my control; what difference will it make"... do you recognize some of these? Instead I am going to focus on my dream, and what this brings to me - the excitement, the anticipation, the choices and possibilities. I don't want to be at the end of the road wishing that I could have done it better... I want the better now! We are all leaders in our own right when we can hold ourselves accountable and when we are present in any given situation. Look to how you can serve and in so doing create new realities...look to the manner in which you communicate your dream and reflect the other person's back to them... And here is an interesting twist ...leadership is more about the being than the doing... I would like to leave you with an inquiry: How different will your world look like when you are leading from being the magnificent individual that you are? And then a challenge: Take the first step today, make a difference - don't judge it to be big or small!
